Dayne Zorko Tips
The Brisbane Lions vice-captain is Queensland born and bred, having hailed from the Gold Coast before being drafted to the Lions at the mature age of 22 in 2012. Since then, the hard-running midfielder of 102 games has become one of the Lions’ most consistent and widely-respected players in the competition.
Dayne’s playing honours include being the club’s leading goal kicker in 2016, as well as a two-time Merrett-Murray Medallist as the Lions’ best-and-fairest player in 2015 and 2016.
Dayne will be taking on the 5km course of the City2South event weekend this year, with his partner, Kalinda, and young son, Louis.
Set small achievable goals
Goal-setting is important in any exercise regime, but make sure they are achievable, so that you can move on to the next one. Everyone feels better when they know they are making progress, so adding that an extra couple of minutes, a few more repetitions or slightly covering that slightly longer distance in that next session will see you reap the benefits!
Find a friend
Nothing makes exercise easier than having someone to do it with. Training with a partner or friend helps you to push each other past points where you might already have stopped if you were training by yourself. Nothing beats doing it together, but make sure you have training partner suited to your own pace.
Mix it up
Doing the same thing over and over again can be tiresome, boring and will leave you with a lack of motivation. Changing the exercise up keeps things interesting and means you can look forward to the next exercise, knowing you’ve conquered the previous one.
